The curtain has come down on another thrilling FDNA Saturday winter season, and what a celebration of community, talent, and passion it has been. From our youngest emerging stars to our seasoned Open teams, the courts at Jubilee Park and beyond have been alive with energy, determination, and the unmistakable joy of netball.
This year saw 197 teams take to the court, a record number of teams and a true sign of netball’s growth in Frankston and the surrounding community. We had 142 umpires, including 52 who proudly hold their badge and 11 of those earned that achievement during the year. These numbers are more than statistics, they’re a reflection of how our game continues to expand, develop, and inspire. Without the dedication and bravery of these umpires, in many cases young umpires we would not be able to play the game we love.
Grand Final day brought it all together. The atmosphere was electric as all 14 clubs were represented on the day. Clubs including Carrum, Crib Point, Fairway, FDJNC, Somerville, Saints, YCW, STM, Langwarrin and MENC lifted premiership trophies. Each contest was a showcase of courage, excellence and belonging, qualities that sit at the heart of who we are as an association. Every club being represented in Finals is a testament to the work of the grading liaisons and the framework they applied Some games went into overtime with the difference so close the game went into extra overtime. The atmosphere was brilliant and all were on the edge of their seats awaiting the final outcome.
Throughout the season, our strategic priorities have been brought to life in countless ways. We have seen clubs grow by welcoming new players, teams and umpires into the fold; you’ve played with passion and commitment, delivering competitions that remind us why netball is the ultimate team sport; you’ve inspired through the skill and energy that lights up every Saturday; and we’ve led by example, building strong partnerships, supporting our members, and making Jubilee Park a hub for the community.
Most importantly, we’ve lived our ABCDE values on and off the court. Every week, players, coaches, umpires and volunteers went all-in, creating a safe and welcoming place where everyone belongs. We saw courage in young athletes stepping up to the challenge, diversity celebrated across every club, and excellence strived for in every pass, shot and whistle.
As the winter season wraps up, we celebrate not only the champions who took home premiership glory, but also the collective spirit of the entire FDNA family. Together, we have created memories, inspired futures, and strengthened the heartbeat of netball in Frankston and beyond.
Congratulations to all of our 2025 premiers, and thank you to every player, coach, umpire, volunteer and supporter who made this season one to remember. We can’t wait to welcome you back in 2026 for another season of growth, inspiration, and netball at its very best.
