School Programs and Development for Kids and Coaches

The Peninsula Waves Pathway Program developed by Peninsula Waves and Frankston and District Netball Association aims to provide a high-performance pathway to empower athletes, coaches, umpires and administrators to achieve success to strengthen the sport of netball, across the Mornington Peninsula and Frankston Districts with three key Strategic priorities and goals:

1. Junior participation
Develop junior programs and channels tailored to introduce, recruit, transition and retain participants in netball.
2. Talent pathway
A clear & compelling talent pathway; talent is nurtured and developed for players, coaches, umpires, administrators & support staff enabling them to reach their potential.
3. People, culture and brand
A unified, high performing, supported and engaged workforce capable of delivering our vision, achieving our mission and communicating and promoting our brand.

School Programs

We are currently offering a variety school-based programs to support the development and participation of netball in primary schools across Frankston City, Mornington Peninsula and Nepean districts. From Net Set GO sessions that include introductory games and basic skills for 6 to 10 year old’s, net-abilities sessions designed for people with intellectual or physical disabilities, as well as those without a formal diagnosis who may need a bit of extra support to fully enjoy the game to specific and targeted sessions for school representative teams. School Holiday Clinics

Peninsula Waves offers clinics each school holiday period with sessions suitable for beginners through to representative players. All sessions are run by Peninsula Waves coaches and players and include skills, fun games, team building exercises, netball match play with morning tea included.

Peninsula Academy Program

The Peninsula Academy began in 2023. The aim of the program was to offer training and games with qualified and experienced coaches for players that are missing out on representative squads or live rurally with minimal opportunities for netball. The teams compete weekly in the Monday Night Junior Premier competition at FDNA. Trials for the program take place in November.

One on One and Small Group sessions

In Term 4 we are offering our qualified coaches for one-hour sessions at FDNA. These are available to players of any age and skill. Each session is tailored to suit your needs. Offering specialist goaling, midcourt or defence session or a focus on basic skills of footwork and ball work, we’re here to help! Our coaches cost $100 per hour, and you can have up to six people participate in the session. You can book a session with one of our coaches 

Coaching Workshops

Do you or your club need some inspiration for new drills? A united club game plan or strategy? Do you need to upskill your knowledge in certain areas of the court? Peninsula Waves offers coach development sessions with their qualified coaches. Tailored to suit your age groups and skill level with resources to refer back to during the season.

Club and Team Trainings

Peninsula Waves can come to your club or team training to offer specialised sessions. We can focus on specialist trainings of goaling, midcourt and/or defensive techniques, basic footwork and ball work, general attacking or defence, team structures, centre pass set ups, anything you need! We encourage the coaches to assist, ask questions and learn from our experienced coaches!

School Programs

We are currently offering a variety of school-based and holiday programs to support the development and participation of netball in primary schools across Frankston city, Mornington Peninsula and Nepean districts.

Our aim is to grow the participation numbers in netball and provide a clear pathway for all players, coaches and umpires in our region, so we can continue to grow the sport we love to build healthy, and supportive communities based around sport, leadership and the core values of excellence, development, growth, enjoyment, and integrity.

The Peninsula Waves Pathway Program will feature initiatives such as; school netball engagement programs, netball clinics, high performance camps, junior leadership and coach programs, umpire development workshops and clinics, and talented athlete scholarships.

Managed by Elite Accredited Netball Coach Jess Whitfort who is also has a diploma in teaching, and strong community connections across the Peninsula, Jess is passionate about bringing netball to everyone in our region and building confidence in coaches, players and umpires to bring a sense of belonging to our community and finding the true value in participation in sport in developing healthy, active and resilient children and adults.
