School Programs and Development for Kids and Coaches

The Peninsula Waves Pathway Program developed by Peninsula Waves and Frankston and District Netball Association aims to provide a high-performance pathway to empower athletes, coaches, umpires and administrators to achieve success to strengthen the sport of netball, across the Mornington Peninsula and Frankston Districts with three key Strategic priorities and goals:

1. Junior participation

Develop junior programs and channels tailored to introduce, recruit, transition and retain participants in netball.

2. Talent pathway

A clear & compelling talent pathway; talent is nurtured and developed for players, coaches, umpires, administrators & support staff enabling them to reach their potential.

3. People, culture and brand

A unified, high performing, supported and engaged workforce capable of delivering our vision, achieving our mission and communicating and promoting our brand.

We are currently offering a variety school-based programs to support the development and participation of netball in primary schools across Frankston City, Mornington Peninsula and Nepean districts. From Net Set GO sessions that include introductory games and basic skills for 6 to 10 year old’s, net-abilities sessions designed for people with intellectual or physical disabilities, as well as those without a formal diagnosis who may need a bit of extra support to fully enjoy the game to specific and targeted sessions for school representative teams. Our qualified coaches can tailor sessions to suit your school’s needs. Contact Kelly at [email protected] for more information.

Peninsula Waves offers clinics each school holiday period with sessions suitable for beginners through to representative players. All sessions are run by Peninsula Waves coaches and players and include skills, fun games, team building exercises, netball match play with morning tea included.

The Peninsula Academy began in 2023. The aim of the program was to offer training and games with qualified and experienced coaches for players that are missing out on representative squads or live rurally with minimal opportunities for netball. The teams compete weekly in the Monday Junior Outdoor competition at FDNA. Trials for the program take place in November.

Available all year round, we are offering our qualified coaches for one-hour sessions at FDNA. These are available to players of any age and skill. Each session is tailored to suit your needs. Offering specialist goaling, midcourt or defence session or a focus on basic skills of footwork and ball work, we’re here to help! Our coaches cost $110 per hour, and you can have up to six people participate in the session. You can book a session with one of our coaches

Do you or your club need some inspiration for new drills? A united club game plan or strategy? Do you need to upskill your knowledge in certain areas of the court? Peninsula Waves offers coach development sessions with their qualified coaches. Tailored to suit your age groups and skill level with resources to refer back to during the season.
Peninsula Waves can come to your club or team training to offer specialised sessions. We can focus on specialist trainings of goaling, midcourt and/or defensive techniques, basic footwork and ball work, general attacking or defence, team structures, centre pass set ups, anything you need! We encourage the coaches to assist, ask questions and learn from our experienced coaches!
